In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s a bit of football being played at the moment.

Expect Spain to come to a standstill on Sunday when Spain take on Russia in the first of the knock out rounds. Spain are heavily favoured to beat the hosts, and if the large Russian population in Marbella is in full – and possibily vodka fuelled – voice, it could be a little on the noisy side.

The Spain match kicks off at 4pm on Sunday and there are large screens both in the Puerto Deportivo de Marbella and on the Calle Marques del Duero in San Pedro if you fancy joining in the carnival atmosphere. All the matches will be shown, with France playing Argentina at 4pm today – and I’m looking forward to see what Maradona gets up to in the crowd this time – Uraguay v Portugal at 8pm, Spain v Russia at 4pm Sunday and finally Croatia v Denmark at 8pm.

San Pedro is also getting into the spirit of the event by offering free facepainting in your national team’s colours as well as promising prizes for photos on social media with the hashtag #DisfrutaSanPedro.

Sticking with sport in San Pedro, the Municipal Stadium is hosting the Chinese Martial Arts Championship of Andalucia tonight, organised by the Instituto Shaolin San Pedro and the Asociación Nacional de Clubes de Artes Marciales Chinas. 170 children and young people will be competing fron 7pm.

If all this sport has left you feeling peckish, the Taste of Malaga feria is currently underway on Marbella’s Avenida del Mar. With tastings, craft beers, demonstrations and workshops for all ages, the feria continues at 7pm today and continues on Sunday
