Marbella showed its charitable side again as it hosted the 37th Gala Dinner of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) at Finca La Concepción.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, highlighted the tremendous work of the AECC and underlined the “close collaboration” with the Marbella Town Hall, including new offices and the finace of a number of projects. “My congratulations to the new board of directors for the success of this Gala after two years of absence due to the pandemic”.
Muñoz highlighted the role that the AECC played in the prevention of cancer , “an essential issue to achieve the best treatment and prognosis of the disease itself” and added that “you will always find us by your side in the daily work you do”.
The mayor also presented a new award, ‘The Fighter’, to TV presenter Terelu Campos for her contribution to the normalisation of cancer.
President of the local board of the AECC in Marbella, Santiago Gómez-Villares, added “the Spanish Association Against Cancer has something special because since I have been president I have been able to see for myself the affection and the absolute dedication that the volunteers, many of them patients, put into everything they do”.
