A new day care centre for children with special needs and their families officially opened on July 1.
Described by María Bravo, the the actress, businesswoman and philanthropist who launched the initiative as ‘a place that offers hope, understanding and a meeting point for children with special needs and their families’, Casa Ángeles is Marbella’s first multifunctional day centre to offer different types of medical and psychological care, as well as activities and programmes especially tailored for those with special needs.
“It is a dream come true after so many years of very hard work”, María said at the busy Press conference “When there is love and work you can see the fruit. The city council gave us a lot of support, as have all the Global Gift ambassadors ”.
María also explained that Casa Ángeles, named in honour of her mother, will offer treatment to “Twenty children with rare diseases and special needs – or superheroes as I call them”, as well as to the families since “it is very important that parents feel that they have support”.
Five of those ‘superheroes’ – Paola, Olga, Adrián, John and Sara – were the first VIP guests to visit Casa Ángeles.
Some of the foundation’s collaborators and different local and regional authorities participated in the event, including actor Carlos Sobera and his wife Patricia Santamarina as ambassadors for the Global Gift Foundation: José Miguel Marín Marín (Mayor of Istán), José María García Urbano (Mayor of Estepona), Isabel Cintado Melgar (Marbella Town Council Councilor), José Bernal Gutiérrez (Marbella Town Council Councilor), María Esperanza González Pazos (Deputy Delegation of Assistance Centers) Juan Carlos Maldonado (First Vice President of the Malaga Provincial Council – Economic and Social Development Area) and María Francisca Caracuel García (Third Vice President of the Malaga Provincial Council, Delegation of Transparency, Open Government and Social Responsibility), and María Lourdes Piña Martín Moreno (Representative of the Delegation of Equality, Social Services and Family of Malaga). Angela Navarro was also present as a special guest, from the Angela Navarro Foundation.
The opening ceremony also introduced the Gaming for Global Gift movement, a initiative between the Global Gift Foundation and eGoGames, the leading mobile eSports platform in Europe, which was represented by boxer Jonathan ‘Maravilla’ Alonso, and Mateo Conde and Alejandro Sáez, Vice President of Business Development and CEO of eGoGames, respectively. Also present was Brazilian international footballer Julio Baptista.
