Cerros Climber in Concha fall

A climbing trip with friends up La Concha almost ended in tragedy yesterday

Marbella firemen were called to the scene after one of the group slipped and fell several metres.

The accident happened near Cerros del Lago just off the Istán road. The young man, described as Scandinavian, was reportedly climbing a rocky area off the main path when he fell.

Three members of the Fire Department reached the accident scene soon after the group had raised the alarm. Although the injured climber did not have any broken bones, he did have a wound of about eight centimetres near the femoral artery.

He was taken on a stretcher after receiving first aid, and later transfered to a health centre via a 061 helicopter that landed nearby.
