New rules that have come into force in an effort to further reduce the number of deaths on Spanish roads.
Stricter penalties for people caught holding a mobile phone while driving are now in force, as are fines for exceeding speed limits when overtaking.
Anyone caught with a mobile phone in their hands while driving will now face a €500 fine and six penalty points added to their licence.
Speed limits in urban areas and cities have also been reduced to 20km/h, and anyone overtaking a vehicle now cannot exceed the speed limit.
The penalty for the misuse of seatbelts and helmets has also been increased, with those who fail to use either correctly facing a loss of four points from their licence.
