San Pedro Alcantara’s Feria gets underway today.
Traditionally the last big feria on the Costa del Sol, this year the celebrations have moved to a new location, just next to the Boulevard. We have to say that it is a great venue, far better than previous years when the feria took place on the site of the Thursday market, which was difficult to get to.
The feria kicks off with the Parade of Giants, leaving the Plaza de la Iglesia at 7pm and making its way around the town. The official opening and turn on of lights ceremony takes place at 10pm, followed by fireworks on the beach.
The feria will then be operational from 1pm every day with casetas including the Caseta Infantil that has activites for the very young and the Casita Joven “No Alcohol” for kids aged 14-17.
Highlights include the Grand Fiesta for children at the Casita Municipal from 5pm on October 15 that includes face painting, bouncy castles, baloon twisting and a climbing wall.
Acts performing in the Casita Municipal include Celtas Cortos and singer El Canijo de Jerez. You can make sure that you don’t miss a thing via the feroa app. Check out the Feria de San Pedro Alcantara Facebook page for more information.
The funfair will be in full swing in the evening as always for those wanting to scare themselves silly on the rides or show their “How we drive on roundabouts” skills on the dodgems!
And as always at San Pedro Feria, make sure you pack a coat. Traditionally it always rains at least once!
The feria finishes on October 19.
