“Fortress Bahia” lives up to its name as Trocadero Marbella win again

Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club won their final home game of 2016 at “Fortress Bahia” 18-10 against Helvetia Rugby from Seville.

In front of a noisy but good natured and always passionate crowd, Trocadero Marbella started strongly, dominating the first 15 minutes . A penalty from Marolla was followed by a try by Camarero that Marolla converted.

A HUGE tackle by Molina set up a brilliant move that ended with a  try for captain Kike González, and Trocadero Marbella finished half time leading 15-3

At the restart, however, Bahia Park ground really did have to be a fortress. After Marolla has kicked another penalty to make it 18-3 a  second half revival saw Helvetia come at Trocadero Marbella with much greater possession, scoring a converted try. The home side dug deep however, and the crowd got behind them (including some full blooded singing that resembled a Mexican Wave of Sound) and Trocadero Marbella finished strongly to win the game 18-10.

The victory puts Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club seventh in the league with five wins and 24 an impressive achievement in their debut season in the Division de Honor B.

Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club’s next home game is on January 8 against A.D. Ing. Industriales Las Rozas, who currently sit one off the bottom of the league.
