The emergency services endured a hectic 24 hours on Tuesday as they battled to control FOUR fires along the Costa del Sol.
Mijas, Benahavis, Estepona and San Roque all reported serious wildfires, with Mijas suffering its second blaze in under 24 hours.
Ninety firefighters tackled the Mijas fire that occurred just off the AP-7 toll road close to La Cala. Later that afternoon a second fire was reported near the industrial zone of Estepona. Forty five firefighters were called to the scene.
Hours later another wildfire broke out on the Benahavis road, forcing its closure. Once again the fire seemed to have started just off the AP-7 Toll Road.
The final blaze was reported at 11pm close to San Roque. Firefighters had to work through the night in difficult conditions to contain the blaze, which they managed to stabilize on Wednesday afternoon.
With all fires now under control, investigators will be looking at the possible causes.
As the long hot summer continues into August, and the fire risk remains high, the emergency services are bracing themselves for a difficult time.
