Heatwave continues as Seville breaks all time record

The September heatwave looks set to continue until midweek

The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) confirmed the record breaking temperatures as Seville registered 44 degrees.

Other towns in the province such as Osuna and  Lora de Estepa have not seen temperatures drop below 26 degrees this month.

Aemet sources have explained that this intense heat “is abnormal for the season”, and explains that the lack of air mass movement resulted in sweltering nights.

The 44 degrees represents an absolute record in September since records began in 1951.

The heatwave will continue until Wednesday, when temperatures will begin to fall.
