A Finnish man has been arrested and charged over the death of a British man who was found dead on a bench at Malaga airport last Friday.
Steven Allford, who is understood to have been sleeping rough around the area, was found tied to the bench. First reports indicate that the 51-year-old choked on his own vomit.
The man has been remanded in prison, whilst legal preparations are made regarding the case.
Speculation is that Allford was a victim of what is being termed “hobophobia”, the trend of violence against the homeless.
Allford is not the first victim of “hobophobia”. In 2008 three men were convicted of killing a homeless woman by setting her on fire sentenced them to between 17 -8 years in prison
The woman was trying to sleep inside a bank lobby next to an ATM machine when the suspects drenched her with a flammable solvent and set it ablaze with a cigarette.
