Marbella marked International Women’s Day with ceremony honouring 16 of the town’s most remarkable women.
And no, there wasn’t a TOWIE or Life on Marbs babe on the list.
The event at the Adolfo Suarez Palacio de Congresos was attended by the mayor, Jose Bernal, as well as Ana Leschiera, the Councillor for Equality and Diversity, and other Marbella notabables.
Mayor Bernal remarked that the ceremony was “a well deserved recognition that the Town Hall wanted to award all women for their achievements in the fight for equality.”
In her speech Ana Leschiera, stressed that the women were an example for all facing the difficulties in that they had overcome.
The 16 women honoured were Marie-Noëlle Erize Tisseau, Susana Yañez Franco, Khadija Mountassir, Auxiliadora García Fernández, Lidia Marin Peña, Maria Magdalena Vargas, Josefina Arias González, Irene Montes couple, Josefa Moreno Gil, Marian Matachana, Ana Martin Jimenez, Sandra Troyano Partal, Jessica Garcia Ramirez, Anabel Alonso, Benitez and Blanca Suarez Remedios Molet Giron.
