In a move certain to be warmly welcomed by animal rights activists (and anyone else living vaguely in the 21st century), Marbella has called time on bullfights in the town.
Marbella Town Hall has announced its intention to take charge of the management of the Plaza de Toros de Marbella, after the current contract with El Toreo S.L., who have run the bullring since the Gil era.
Marbella Town Hall had already banned all advertising for bullfights on municipal TV and radio. Bullfights held in the summer had increasingly attracted protests (pictured) as well as declining numbers.
Marbella Town Hall has stated that it aims to attract a wide variety of events – such as concerts and sporting events – and wants to make the Plaza de Toros a “Plaza de Todos”
Excellent news – we look forward for some great concerts and cultural events!
