Marbella FC have named Abraham García as coach for the rest of the season – and he has a real task on his hands.
The club finds itself in deep trouble at the moment as it has already been relegated to Spain’s fourth division and faces a real possibility of dropping into the fifth division (the mechanics of the lower leagues and groups need a degree in quantum physics to understand. But basically Marbella are in deep trouble)
The Madrid coach, who has experience training at the Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid academies, took his first training session on Saturday, and now has just eight games to avoid a second relegation.
Earlier this week Marbella FC parted company with José Manuel Aira who, along with a list of big name signings, had a massively disappointing season.
It all seems a far cry from the glizty makeover that was promised last year, with an 18,000 seater stadium that looked like a cross between a swish beach club (complete with VIP area and pool) and aims at playing in the top leagues.
Should Marbella FC drop even further down the leagues, the ambitious plans for the club may have to be revised, to put it mildly…
