Billy Ocean , Right Said Fred and M People’s Heather Small rolled back the years last night at the Crazy 80s party.
The concert, held in the intimate venue of the Puente Romano Tennis Club, kicked off with the enthusiastic Paul “The Piano Man” Maxwell, before Right Said Fred took the stage. Proudly bald singer Richard Fairbrass raised a few eyebrows in his choice of attire for the evening – but it was warm and if the “Too Sexy” singer felt comfortable in a white skirt, then so be it.
After Right Said Fred’s short set, it was time for Heather Small, lead singer with M People. If you remember the all star version of “Perfect Day” a few years ago, you’ll remember Heather’s soaring vocals, and she’s lost none of her vocal power.
She was absolutely superb and had a brilliant sense of humour, at one point telling the crowd “You’re tired? Try being in your 50s and doing this in heels!”
And finally it was time for the main man himself. Billy Ocean may be in his 60s but he can still rock a few dance moves, and also now sports a killer set of white dreads. Will a full band, including four great backing singers, the white suited Mr Ocean played all of his biggest hits, including “Suddenly”, “Red Light Spells Danger”, a crowd singalong version of “No woman, No Cry”, “When the going gets tough” and finished with the superb “Caribbean Queen”.
A great evening once again from Crazy Music Productions, and now we’re all looking forward to George Benson on July 21st!
