Marbella lost one of its best known restaurateurs with weekend.
Giuseppina Filippone, founder of the Da Bruno group, died on Saturday “after a complicated illness,” according to family sources in a statement. The businesswoman was admitted to hospital along with her husband, Bruno Filippone, who is still being treated.
Giuseppina had two children, Giancarlo and Marcella and was well known in Marbella thanks to the Da Bruno restaurants. The Filippones arrived in Marbella more than 25 years ago where they opened their first restaurant in 1994.
Serving traditional Italian food, the couple enjoyed considerable success, opening a further seven restaurants including Cabopino in 2001, Sul Mare in 2002, San Pedro in 2005, Mijas-Costa in 2012 and Döss Marbella (with Asian and innovative touches) in 2019
