Work has begun to modernise Marbella’s Fishing Port.
Junta de Andalucia ministers Elías Bendodo, Carmen Crespo and Marifrán Carazo, along with Marbella mayor Ángeles Muñoz were in Marbella on Saturday to mark the start of the demolition of the old fish market at La Bajadilla, where they also inaugurated the ice factory.
Marifrán Carazo commented “The transformation of the port of La Bajadilla was more than necessary. With these actions, the fishing facilities will be modernised to be more attractive and competitive”
Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Carmen Crespo, underlined that the work was a reflection of the “firm commitment” of the Junta “for the modernisation of the fishing sector, whose activity is essential to generate wealth and employment in coastal municipalities “.
The officials also announced that they would start the construction of new workspaces for boat owners in the first quarter of 2021, and that the entire budget for the modernization was 1,037,059 euros.
