To celebrate a brilliant season that saw it crowned Andalucian Champions and promoted to the national league for the first time in its history, Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club met with Marbella Mayor, Jose Bernal, yesterday.

Team members met the mayor at Marbella’s Town Hall, were he congratulated them on their achievements and wished them well for next season. The team thanked him and hoped that the town hall would support the team, who will need €80,000 to compete in the National League B. (The club had to finance their own team coach during their successful cup campaign)

Earlier, Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club, enjoyed a celebratory drink at Trocadero Petit Beach Bar, where owner and director of Trocadero Group, Dionisio Hernández-Gil, congratulated the players and pledged his continuing sponsorship for the team. He also announced a new programme of training and scholarships for promising players, all part of the plan to take  Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club to the highest level and represent the town of Marbella as a premiere rugby destination throughout Spain and beyond.
