It’s not all designer shops. Retail giant Primark continued with its expansion in Spain yesterday, opening its 12th store in Andalusia and its 54th in the country at Marbella’s La Cañada shopping centre.
Marbella Mayor Ángeles Muñoz was on hand to officially open the store, which spans two floors over an area of around 4,000sq m, and will employ 170 workers. She praised the “modern, functional and sustainable” facilities, and added that “We are delighted that you are here, in a unique place”.
For his part, the general director of Primark in Spain and Portugal, Carlos Inacio, stressed that “nothing better than to open in this fantastic and charming city”, and underlined the firm’s commitment to sustainability, social commitment and for being “an inclusive company where style, size or budget does not matter.”
Primark intends to increase to 57 stores in Spain in 2022, with openings this year in Bilbao, Vigo and Marbella and in San Sebastian, Madrid, Cadiz and Girona next year.
