It’s going to be a weekend of positives for Marbella, as the town gets away from the shocking images of last Sunday and the calls for an end to “low class” tourism.
I’ll deal with why I don’t think that is ever going to happen in a later blog, but the town is definitely getting its glad rags on with the official launch tonight of Marbella Luxury Weekend.
Marbella is second only to Barcelona in concentration of luxury goods and over the weekend Puerto Banus will host fashion shows, luxury goods expositions, cars, boats, live music and a VIP chill out zone to underline the fact.
The event officially starts at 8pm tonight and the exhibition zone, located next to the tower, features luxury car hire, aviation, haute couture, gastronomy and luxury properties.

If all the conspicuous consumerism is too much for you, however, the newly refurbished Radiant Yoga centre in Nueva Andalucia is holding an open day on Saturday, with free workshops and classes. Check out https://www.yoga-in-marbella.net/ for more information and to reserve your class.
For the kids, Los Arcos Bar and Restaurantin Benavista is holding a Family Fun Day on Saturday that features a BBQ, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting and a live DJ and entertainment, all from 2pm
On Sunday Marbella Feria officially starts with the traditional Romeria taking place from the Casa Hermandad (Rincón de San Bernabé) to the Parque de Naguelles, where the procession ends with traditional music, dance, and a fair bit of food and drink!
