Spain pays its respects to HM The Queen

The recent passing of HM Queen Elizabeth has been marked by an outpouring of dignified respect from around the World.

In Spain, HM King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited the British Embassy in Madrid to sign the Book of Condolence. Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez also paid his respects.

The British Embassy issued the following statement

“We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen and are grateful for the outpouring of condolences from our Spanish friends. Her Majesty served our country with profound and inspiring leadership for 70 years. Our thoughts are with His Majesty The King and his family at this time.

We have opened condolence books in all our Posts. Condolence books are open in Madrid today, 9 September, from 12:00-16:00 and in our consulates from 12:00-15:00.

Until further notice, condolence books will be open in Madrid from 10:00-16:00 and in our consulates from 10:00-15:00.
