Spain “prepared, calm and confident” as UK triggers Article 50

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has joined his European counterparts in issuing a series of statements following on from the UK’s triggering of Article 50, and the formal start of Brexit.

In a series of tweets and during a press conference yesterday, Rajoy went on to say that Spain, as well as the rest of the EU is “prepared, calm and confident”.

Later in the day, in a joint statement with Maltese Prime Minister & President of the Council of the European Union, Joseph Muscat, he went on to say that the priority was to “minimize the uncertainty” created by Brexit for citizens and companies in Spain.
Meanwhile the Spanish Government has launched a Brexit Headquarters in its embassy in London, which it hopes will assist in the Brexit process for Spanish citizens.
