Super Cala Fragalistic! – Arctic Monkeys, Kraftwerk and Hot Chip announced for new music festival

A new music festival is set to rock the coast next year, with some big names already confirmed. Arctic Monkeys, Kraftwerk and Hot Chip are among the acts that will feature in the three day Cala Mijas music festival.

The organisers of one of Spain’s leading festivals, Bilbao BBK Live, have announced that Cala Mijas will take place between September 1-3. The new festival, which fuses international sounds with local culture, has been founded with environmental and social responsibility at its heart, pledging a commitment to preserving its surrounding area and positively contributing to the development and growth of the local community.

Cala Mijas promises a diverse music programme showcasing the best in both regional and global talent from across the worlds of rock, hip-hop, electronic and pop. Sheffield rock royalty Arctic Monkeys are already confirmed for a headline slot. The indie icons will be joined by electronic forefathers and synthesizer masterminds Kraftwerk and synthpop band Hot Chip.

Also joining the mix are Australian singer and songwriter Chet Faker – who will showcase his new album – British indie-rock band The Blossoms, Latin music songstress Nathy Peluso, and British indie newcomers The Lathums, among others.

Bringing local flavour, the festival will of course also showcase some of Spain’s most exciting talent including the likes of electro-punk of El Columpio Asesino; indie popsters Love of Lesbian, and the catchy melodies of Sen Senra.

Cala Mijas is a new festival built on new principles – the organisers aim to preserve the area of Mijas and contribute to the local community and have pledged to follow the guidelines of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, both in the running of the festival and the way its values are promoted.
