The Secrets out! Brazilian drama wins Best Feature at the Marbella International Film Festival

Marbella International Film Festival celebrated a hugely successful event with a Prize Giving Gala at the Hard Rock Hotel Marbella


Celebrating its 17th edition, Festival Director Mac Chakaveh had every reason to be delighted as the five-day festival attracted a high standard of entries from around the world.

Belgian Crime Drama Pouchka won Best Shorter Short, the first award of the evening, while Best Short went to Ukrainian production Yellow Star, with director Serhii Skobun and his family given a warm reception.

Best Supporting Actress went to Priscilla Vaz (Below) for Brazilian film Secrets, while Best Actress was Nicole Faraday for Not By The Book – a British Comedy/Crime caper.

Best Supporting Actor was won by Fernando Abadie for The List, a Paraguayan film set in the aftermath of the fall of a brutal dictatorship.



Kevin McNally was a deservedly popular winner as Best Actor for Musketeer – the “Pirates of The Caribbean” star looking relaxed on his first visit to Marbella.

25 Years of UK Garage, the in-depth documentary on the birth of the UK Garage scene won Best Documentary. Featuring stars of the UK Garage Scene including So Solid Crew, The Heartless Crew, DJ Scott Garcia, Miss Dynamite, DJ Majestic (Kiss FM) and a guest appearance by boxer Anthony Joshua, the music documentary held a lavish screening at Red Dog Cinemas, the venue for all the films.

Rising star Cos Greenop took the Best Director award for Last Heist, a witty, gritty, thrilling insight into the real south London criminal underworld.

The final award of the evening, Best Feature, went to Secrets, the Brazilian drama directed and starring the ebullient Emiliano Ruschel.
