In a move bound to please motorists, Marbella Town Hall has set up a team to tackle the continuing delays to traffic on the stretch of road leading into the new tunnel in San Pedro Alcantara and the Ronda road.
The teamwill urge the Ministry of Development to take steps to solve the traffic jams that occur on the A -7 , in the section between Puerto Banus and San Pedro Alcantara and to improve road safety for the 70,000 people who use this road.
The team explaind that traffic problems reported during this summer were not specific or isolated, but dated back to the 80s and can be solved in the medium and long term.
One of the first changes that the team will make is adding a second lane in the turn off from the A-7 to the Ronda road, where queues have formed all summer. The team will also look at improved access to San Pedro as well as Puerto Banus, which this summer has struggled with the number of vehicles and resulted in long tailbacks.
The team will also implement plans for mass transit, bike paths and pedestrian paths with a green barrier to mitigate air pollution.
