Puerto Banus residents paid tribute to Marco Yaquot , the 49-year-old Marbella businessman who was killed in the early hours of Monday morning.
Marco, who was involved in leading nightclub TIBU, Linekers bar and Portside, among others, was hit by two bursts of automatic weapons fire as he drove his Bentley outside his villa in San Pedro.
Among the tributes was “Mummy Marbella” Lina Hodgkins, who worked with Marco for over a decade. She wrote on Social Media: “The phone call at 5am this morning will stay with me forever.
“My boss of 14 years Marco was killed. We argued like husband and wife over the years.
“Today remembering the good times of which there were many. Heartfelt sympathy to all the family. God bless.”
A popular figure in Puerto Banus, police are working on the theory that Marco’s killing may have been the settling of scores and the latest death in an increasingly violent gang war in Marbella that has escalated in recent months.
