Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club were finally back to winning ways this weekend, with an historic first national league victory against C.R.A. Portuense.
Playing at home at “Fortress Bahia’s Park”, Marbella put in a strong performance against their opponents, testimony to the progress that the Andalucian champions have made under coach Burger Heldenguys.
A clinical first half display, that included a try from new South African signing Tim Louw, meant that Marbella went in at the half time break leading 22-00.
It was a lead that the team did not lose, and the crowd of over 250 saw Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club record their first victory 34 – 12, a great morale boost for the players and club. Diego Echevarría picked up the Man of the Match award, that was presented by Sur newspaper journalist Héctor Barbotta.
Trocadero Marbella Rugby Club next travel to bottom placed Union Rugby Almeria, before welcoming C.R. Cisneros B on November 6.
