Traffic on the coast was thrown into chaos this afternoon as a three car crash in the San Pedro tunnel resulted a queue back as far as Cancelada.

The accident happened at lunchtime as many were leaving for the New Year’s break.

The crash is the latest in a series of incidents on that particular stretch of the A7, which has come in for critisism for its design as well as a lack of a ‘hard shoulder’. This means that even the smallest breakdown can have a major impact on traffic flow.
