It’s good to know that even in these troubled and uncertain times there are some things we can always count on.
Like rain during San Pedro Feria.
True to tradition the rains duly arrived in force in the early hours of Thursday morning, with a tremendous storm in Marbella this afternoon. In an uncanny co-incidence I was delivering a lecture to the U3A about Marbella’s recent history. I mentioned the name of disgraced former mayor Jesus Gil y Gil and as I did a tremendous clap of thunder wrung out. If further proof of divine retribution was needed Stag and Hen Party Central – otherwise known as the Hotel PYR in Puerto Banus – was struck by a bolt of lightning.
Biblical retribution aside – and we’ll be checking to see if the entire back line in Banus has been turned into pillars of salt a little later – and if so bring your own tequila and lemon – the Spanish Meteorological Agency AEMET has forecast a yellow alert for strong winds and thunderstorms for Saturday, with the rains continuing until Tuesday. Friday will bring more thunderstorms.
Enjoy the feria!
