“Pioneers in Equality” is the name of women’s workshop organised by the Town Hall and taking place at the Cortijo Miraflores Cultural Centre from October 27-29 from 9.15-13.15 each day.
At a press conference at the Town Hall this morning Marbella Diversity Councillor Ana Lescheria, who was accompanied by speakers Medillina Joanna and Maria Soler, outlined the aims of the workshops.
“We want to rescue from oblivion and silence a number of women who have committed their lives to opening roads that move toward equality. Today we run the risk of believing that equality exists and that stereotypes created over the centuries are largely a thing of the past and have been overcome. reality, however, is quite another”.
The workshop aims to deepen the legacy of these pioneers in equality and highlight these women as role models. As well as this the sessions will examine the importance of knowledge and analysis that women from various fields have committed their lives to try to attain a society in which women and men are no longer limited by ideas and uneven behaviour.
The workshop, held in collaboration with the Andalusian Women’s Institute, is intended for women’s associations, women and the general public interested in finding out more about these pioneers in equality, as well as those concerned about gender equality.
